Werewulf? There wulf. I’m sorry, I thought you wanted to talk like that. Can’t beat the classics. Right, so Robert Egger’s Werewulf has a trailer. Warning: the trailer has a trailer on it.
OK, interesting, interesting. I see that Egger’s isn’t a fan of colour, but then, the movie is set in England, so he’s spot on. The UK didn’t get colour until about the 1930’s.
Werewulf stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, Willem Dafoe, Ralph Ineson, Lily-Rose Depp, and Valeriia Karaman. Egger’s is directing and co-writing with Sjon. The story is:
In medieval Britain, a mysterious creature stalks the foggy countryside, transforming local folklore into terrifying reality as villagers face an ancient supernatural threat.
Another quote about the movie said:
“Witness Robert Eggers’ most visceral and haunting experience yet. Focus Features presents WERWULF, a harrowing tale of devotion, damnation and the devil within.”
That synopsis is one of those with clever words that don’t really say anything.
I see they keep mentioning Egger’s as the ‘Director of Nosferatu’. Personally, I think that was his weakest movie. The Witch is excellent, The Lighthouse is weird, but still very good, The Northman is the same, but the only movie of his I haven’t returned to is Nosferatu.
We had an image from Werewulf just last week, but what do you make of the trailer? The movie will be in cinemas on Christmas Day.
