It has been officially announced that June 4th will be the premiere date for Star Wars: The Acolyte. Alongside the announcement, a teaser poster has been released and the first trailer will drop later today. The Acolyte is set around fifty years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and towards the end of the High Republic era.
The live-action series follows a former Jedi Padawan and her one-time Master as an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.
Joonas Suotamo, Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, Carrie-Anne Moss, Dean-Charles Chapman, Margarita Levieva, Charlie Barnett, and Rebecca Henderson round out the cast.
The Acolyte comes from creator and showrunner Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), who also serves as executive producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are the co-executive producers; Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Rob Bredow, and Eileen Shim are producing.
The show will beat Star Wars: Skeleton Crew to the small screen. That show is set during the age of The Mandalorian and will premiere in the back half of 2024. They will both be followed by the second season of Andor in early 2025.
Unfortunately, a new season of the tedium that was Ahsoka is also in the works. Kathleen Kennedy remains in position. Once again, the internet was wrong.
