Trailers. Everywhere you look, there are trailers. This must be what happens when everything is delayed six months by a strike then all the content is prepared for launch at once. The new season of Doctor Who is the 14th since the show was relaunched with Christopher Ecclestone. However, it is being dubbed by returning showrunner Russell T. Davies as “Season One”. Why, will no doubt be revealed in the latest run of the world’s longest-lasting sci-fi show.
Now there is a full-length official trailer for the new season that features Ncuti Gatwa stepping into the famous TARDIS, following on from his appearance in the third of David Tennant’s three 60th anniversary specials. He also appeared in the Christmas Special that introduced Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) as his new companion.
As usual, it appears there will be more to her than meets the eye. The Doctor (Gatwa) and Ruby (Gibson) will embark on adventures, and visit numerous time periods. It will all link back to the mystery around Ruby’s origin that was hinted at in the Christmas episode.
There will be a legion of guest stars including Jonathan Groff, Indira Varma, and Jinkx Monsoon.
The show is now part of a deal between the BBC and Disney+ which has brought some serious firepower to the otherwise legendarily small budgets.
