The planet-eating mega-villain Galactus has been cast. Veteran British actor Ralph Ineson will portray the key MCU villain in The Fantastic Four for Marvel Studios.
Ineson has appeared in Game Of Thrones, Harry Potter, The Northman, and The VVitch. Many of you will remember him as Finchy from the original version of The Office.
In the comics, Galactus is a gigantic humanoid with armor and a helmet that devours planets. He appeared on screen in only shadow form within a giant space cloud in Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer. There were also a few Easter Eggs pointing to his eventual appearance in Eternals.
In comics lore, Galactus was originally known as Galan and he was born before the current universe formed. When his universe came to an end, Galan attempted to escape via merging with the Cosmic Egg, resulting in him being reborn as the godlike being, Galactus.
Through his surviving technology, he created a physical form for himself and became godlike, but completely lost his emotions including his empathy for others. Galactus hated the newly formed universe and decided to eliminate it by consuming its energy.
He must consume planets to sustain his life force and has no regard for the beings he destroys in the process. So kind of like my ex-wife, in space.
Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as John Storm/Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach Ben Grimm/The Thin, and Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer. John Malkovich is to appear in an as-yet-unknown role.
Matt Shakman directs and shooting begins shortly in the UK.
