Halloween approaches, and we seem to be neck-deep in werewolves around here. Yesterday we had the trailer for a Frank Grillo vs. lycanthropes shoot-em-up, and today it’s a little more highbrow as Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man gets a full trailer.
The teaser last month didn’t give too much away. So will this? Christopher Abbott, Julia Garner, Sam Jaeger, and Matilda Firth co-star in the film. The official story follows a man who seeks to protect himself and his family from a dangerous werewolf at night during a full moon.
Does the wolfsbane bloom, does the bite curse him to walk in limbo among the restless souls of his victims? Well… not really, says Whannell. According to a recent interview, he has leaned away from the supernatural. As he did with his The Invisible Man remake, it is more science-based and focuses more on the infection angle of lycanthropy.
You can take all these classic monsters and wrap them around different concepts to modernize them. In this way, Wolf Man has much more of an infection angle.”
