After months of speculation and rumor, along with leaks and fake spy images, Nintendo has finally revealed the Nintendo Switch 2. As part of the launch they also confirmed a number of exclusives for the console.
Nintendo drew back the curtain on Switch 2 via a trailer released online:
In the trailer, Nintendo focused on showing off the new hardware rather than the games, but that dosn’t mean there aren’t a whole slew of titles expected forthe new platform.
The trailer shows what appears to be a new version of Mario Kart runningon the console. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe remains the top selling game on the original Switch. There was also a glimpse at a new cartridge for Super Mario Bros. Wonder – is this also a port from the original?
The company has confirmed most Switch games will run on Switch 2. Nintendo will hold a Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025, where it’ll likely reveal the console’s release date, pricing, and software lineup.
When the original Switch launched the titles available at launch included Breath of the Wild, a Legend of Zelda title. Rumours for the Switch 2’s software lineup also include one AAA third-party game making the jump, while other leaks have suggested the new console can run Final Fantasy 7 remake, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Metal Gear Solid Delta.
