Trailer: MORTAL KOMBAT II Features Johnny Cage

Mortal Kombat is a popular video game played by young people. If you are a gamer, you’ve played one of the versions of MK. The 2021 movie version is getting a sequel, and here is the trailer. Caution, it’s the Redband trailer, so it’s NSFW.

The Mortal Kombat game series started in 1992, man alive, that makes me feel old!

There have been 12 sequels to the game, the latest, Mortal Kombat 1, in 2023. With it being such a popular franchise, movies were bound to arrive at some point. The first movie came out in 1995 and was directed by Paul W. S. Anderson. It was OK, but it’s dated badly, but it gave us a kickass soundtrack.

Since then, there have been animated series, TV series, sequels, lunch boxes and Mortal Kombat socks. All of them were pretty lame and never showed the violence that the original games did. #fatality

In 2021, director Simon McQuoid finally made a Mortal Kombat movie that had the blood, guts and gore of the games. The movie grossed over $80 million at the box office. The movie cost $55 million to make, so that’s not a huge profit, but the movie gained a following.

This sequel has taken this long to get off the ground and focuses on Johnny Cage, an actor, trying to save the world. Oh well, I didn’t like this world anyway.

Mortal Kombat II stars Karl Urban, Ludi Lin, Jessica McNemee, Joe Taslim, Hiroyuki Sanada, Adeline Rudolph, Tati Gabrielle, Josh Lawson, and Martyn Ford. Simon McQuoid is back in the director’s chair. The story is:

The fan favourite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage himself — are pitted against one another in the ultimate battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.

Mortal Kombat II will be in cinemas and IMAX on the 24th of Oct. #FinishHim
