Some people stand in the darkness, afraid to step into the light. Others, if they were teenage boys in the 1990s before the internet, wore out the pause button on their VCRs while telling their moms not to come in the room, and that they would be down in a minute. Such was the power of Baywatch.

Well, now it’s back. There are no guarantees, but if the teaser that just dropped for the new show is anything to go by, it looks like somebody understood the assignment.
The teaser was shared by FOX, and by the new lead, Stephen Amell (Arrow). Amell will play the grown-up version of Hobie Buchannon, son of Baywatch lifeguard legend Mitch (David Hasslehoff), and now a Baywatch Captain.
Hobie’s world is turned upside down when Charlie (Jessica Belkin), the daughter he never knew, shows up on his doorstep, eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy and become a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her dad.
This new version of Baywatch co-stars Brooks Nader, and Livvy Dunne, with Shay Mitchell as Trina, Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, and Noah Beck as Luke.
The big news, to people of a certain age, is that Shauni McClaim will return!

Sure, everyone remembers Pamela Anderson’s CJ, but Erika Eleniak’s Shauni was the original, and everyone’s first series crush. I mean… so I am told. In addition, David Chokachi has also been announced as returning as Cody Madison. Both of these roles are likely to be in a mentor and Baywatch leadership capacity.
Here is the teaser:
McG directed the pilot, and it will air in January.
