We were thinking about having a discussion later in the month about the potential best TV series of 2024. As the year approaches it’s end, others are having the same idea.
I started looking at the shows and movies that were release in 2024, and for an “Best Of…” list it is slim pickings.
According to GamesRadar, there has been a vote, and the public have said what their best shows of 2024 were.
They published the top 25, so let’s look at some highlights from the official list.
23. The Acolyte
The 23rd-best show of 2024 was The Acolyte? Really? The show that was written by the former assistant to a serial rapist got into the top 25. It was a show that was slated by everyone with an IQ over room temperature. So much so that they went back to the old ‘If you don’t like it, you’re a racist’ trope.
16. Doctor Who season 1
The new race-swapped, gender fluid Doctor Who is the 16th-best show on TV this year? Personally, I gave up after Jodie Whittaker, so I didn’t see an episode of this new Doctor Who.
Didn’t I read that Disney is now involved with it? Forgive me if I missed that news, but I was trying to find a rat’s ass to give about it. If Disney did get involved, that explains a lot.
15. Agatha All Along
Again, I didn’t watch a single episode of this. Agatha All Along was described as ‘gayer than The Acolyte’.
I passed on this so hard that I didn’t even watch the people ripping on it on YouTube. The entire thing looked terrible, but according to GamesRadar, it was the 15th-best TV show.
9. Mr. & Mrs. Smith
The survey declared that the 9th best show was Mr & Mrs Smith. Did anyone watch it? Anyone? It didn’t even seem to get any attention on YouTube.
So how did the top five shake out?
5. Arcane Season 2
I had heard good things about this, but I had also heard it was very lesbian-orientated, and not in the fun way from the internet.
4. Shōgun
I did try this, but I couldn’t get into it. By all accounts it was very good, did you see it? Did you stick with it?
3. True Detective: Night Country
I’ve only seen the first season of True Detective and never bothered with the others. I’m guessing this season was so good ‘cos it had girls in it?
2. Fallout
Fallout was one of those things they actually got right. Based on the video game series, they managed to create a decent story even though it was girl-bossed. At least the female lead went through an arc and was challenged.
And, the best TV show of 2024 according to GamesRadar is:
1. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2
Well of course it was! I think we can all agree that Amazon has produced one of the best TV shows in the history of the moving image! They lovingly stayed faithful to Tolkien’s original work and showed a lot of love to the books.
In fact, I’m going to say, that Amazon took the original, crappy, dull, unimaginative characters that Tolkien thought up and made them even better! Let’s be honest here, Tolkien had no creativity, no imagination and couldn’t construct a story to save his life…case in point, if he’s so clever, how come he’s dead?
The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Po… oh, hang on, the bank transfer didn’t go through.
Forget all that, Amazon’s Rings of Power was worse than the last bout of my IBS.
We are not quite sure who voted for some of this stuff, but we are pretty sure none of them hang out here at Last Movie Outpost.
Whoever they are, they rated The Penguin at number 11.
