Disney can’t buy a win lately. There is a growing feeling out there in the real world, as some online commentators say, that “the woke is being put away”. We don’t know anything about that, as here at the Outpost we don’t trouble ourselves with much beyond betting on which pair of underpants Boba Phil will wear to the morning staff meeting. We do, however, know that Snow White seems doomed.
We wonder why?
Disney has reportedly spent $209 million to produce the film, but the rumors are that the figure is actually much higher, particularly after extensive reshoots and digital dwarf replacements.
The trailer was revealed a few weeks ago as part of the D23 presentation, and it is fair to say it is not going well. The trailer has been seen by over 8 million views on YouTube, but with only 82,000 likes then the ratio is disastrous.
Even worse, according to reports, the trailer has already received more than 1 million dislikes on YouTube. The comments section is, as expected, lively at least until Disney puts pressure on and gets it turned off.
