After a summer of stuttering blockbusters, Pixar’s juggernaut has rolled into town and rolled right over everything, exactly as many Outposters predicted. Toy Story 5 has laid waste to the box office.
The Disney-backed movie is now at $312 million worldwide from its opening weekend That is $160 million domesting and $152 million overseas.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie got $372.5 million, but that was for a five-day total.
Pixar movies have also traditionally had legs at the box office, so this may be around hoovering up money for a few weeks.
Spielberg’s Disclosure Day was second with $17 million domestic off the back of a 62% drop, which just shows how front loaded all movies are now becoming. It added another $35.7 million worldwide. Returns wise it will do OK, as the budget was controlled.

Obsession is third, continuing its staggering run. $14.2 million domestically was a drop of just 25%, and it grabbed another $25.1 million overseas. Remember, this is its sixth weekend.
Backrooms, another “online” success story, is fourth with another $7.3 million domestic and a 37% drop.
Further back there was bad news for The Death of Robin Hood, as a weirdly absent marketing campaign means it only opened in ninth with $2.6 million domestic.
