The Russo’s Spent HOW MUCH??

Look… I accept that Infinity War was the most fun you can have in a movie theater without going full Pee-Wee Herman, but this is getting ridiculous. The Russo Brothers appear to be almost Disney-like in their approach to budgets.

Hot on the heels of 2x Avengers movies that cost over $250 million each (rumored higher), $200 million on The Gray Man for Netflix, and $300 million on six-episodes of Citadel, comes a report in World Of Reel that their new Netflix film Electric State has cost around $320 million to produce. What the actual fudge!?

These boys spend money like Mrs. Stark in a designer outlet center.

The report goes on to say that this movie, and its budget, are some of the reasons why Netflix brought in Dan Lin to replace Scott Stuber and instigate cost challenges.

Millie Bobbie Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Giancarlo Espostito, Anthony Mackie, Stanley Tucci, Jason Alexander, Brian Cox, and Jenny Slate (Hail Slatan!) all star in what is described as a coming-of-age sci-fi western tale set in a retro-futuristic past.

Brown leads as an orphaned teenager who traverses the American West with her robot friend and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother.

Electric State is based on a graphic novel by Simon Stalenhag. It was shot mostly in 2022 but had a pause midway after the unfortunate death of a key crew member in a car accident. There were then reshoots in March and April 2024.

It is expected to land on the platform sometime in 2025.
