The weekend is here Outposters, it’s time to kick back, put your feet up and chill. Unless you work on the weekend, then it’s time for more of the rest of the week. Sorry.
Hopefully, over the weekend, you’ll get the chance to watch something. You might be looking for something new and original, well, good luck with that. If not, it might be time to put on a classic for a rewatch.
Well, have no fear, here are some suggestions for you. This is a list of what the team here at LMO has been watching this week. It’s a mixed bag again, but here you go.
- The Damned – Movie – a new horror, not bad, but nothing amazing.
- Reacher – TV series, Season 2 – still very good, season 3 starts soon.
- Never Grow Old – Movie – A Western, pretty dull, turned it off.
- Senna – TV series on Netflix – based on the best racing driver the world ever saw. Worth a watch.
- Austin Powers – Movie – still very funny.
- Time Bandits – Movie – again, still very funny.
- Dante’s Peak – Movie – perfectly OK summer blockbuster.
- Emmanuel – Movie – a remake of the original and nowhere near as good.
- Silo – TV series – 3 episodes in and it’s not bad, but slow.
- The Witch – Movie – Eggers’ first big movie and still excellent.
- Death Warrant – Movie – had a bit of a JCVD-fest. This wasn’t as good as I remember.
- Cyborg – Movie – this was the same, in fact, this was terrible.
- Kill or Be Killed – Movie – watchable.
- The Time Machine – Movie – the original and still amazing.
- You’re Cordially Invited – Movie – avoid at all costs!
As I said, a mixed bag in there, but hopefully there’s something you want to see over the weekend.
Newer Movies
Some of the movies are new and you might be wondering what they are like? Are they a weekend movie?
The Damned wasn’t bad, it starred Joe Cole (Gangs of London) and Odessa Young. The idea was good and it was creepy in places, but it was a bit too ‘female-centric’ to be believable.
The remake of Emmanuel was terrible. Yes, I only watched it for one reason and no, it wasn’t worth it. The original is an erotic classic, but this is a very soft-core rip-off made by today’s standards.
We had the trailer for You’re Cordially Invited recently and basically, they were all the ‘funny’ bits of the entire movie. I don’t find Will Farrell funny at all, or a particularly good actor. In this, he plays the same character he always plays.
I thought the movie was going to be a PG-13, but it had spurts of swearing, then none, then more again later. I don’t know why, but this annoyed me. Anyway, avoid it at all costs. It’s not funny, it’s just horrible.
What are you watching this weekend?
