We reported a while back that Tom Hardy was going to star in Havoc. There were some images online, but now there is a trailer.
The plot for Havoc is:
After a drug deal gone wrong, a bruised detective must fight his way through the criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.
The movie stars Hardy, Timothy Olyphant, Forest Whittaker, Luis Guzman, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Richard Harrington, Narges Rashidi, Jessie Mei Li and Tom Wu.
Havoc is written and directed by Gareth Evans, I’m hoping this will be good. Evans is the Welsh director who made an Indonesian movie, which is still one of the best action movies ever made – The Raid Parts 1 and 2.
Evans also made Apostle, which I remember being a very good horror. More recently he created the Gangs of London TV series, which is very good and due a new season soon.
His direction is spot on for an action movie, you feel every punch, every kick and it hurts. Some of the action in The Raid is pretty kickass. I need to put both The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2 on the watchlist again. It’s 4 hours well spent.
Havoc was originally finished in 2021, but there were some reshoots and additional scenes that needed filming. Some of the hold-ups were due to scheduling conflicts, but hopefully, it won’t affect the overall movie.
Havoc will be on Netflix on the 25th of April. Finally, a review I can look forward to.
