Fear-Street

FEAR STREET: PROM QUEEN Trailer

Seeing Fear Street is back is good news. I reviewed the original trilogy, but it was on the LMO.1 and I can’t find it now, but the Fear Street movies were hilariously bad. They are based on a series of books by R. L. Stine. A new movie was announced about a year ago.

The books are horror for young adults, and it’s like they are written by young adults. When I say young, I mean still in pre-school. I think it was in Fear Street: Part 2 – 1978, where one of the teenagers was possessed by a demon.

Her friend takes her to someone who can help. When they get there, do they immediately help the poor girl? No, they chain her to a radiator, then tell an hour-and-a-half story about how she got possessed.

What was even better was, when they told the story, they told parts of it they weren’t even present for! Did they guess what other people said when they didn’t hear them say it?

I’ve just read that Stine has written over 100 books that have been published under the Fear Street umbrella. Just because you produce a lot of books, doesn’t mean they are good. For another example, see Stephen King.

More on the way

The problem is that people will consume anything at the moment and so another movie is on the way. Here is a trailer for Fear Street: Prom Queen, although it’s more of a teaser.

I have to say, I’m intrigued, I mean, I laughed heartily at the first three movies. Another one, ripping off every other prom movie, might make a good drinking game. The good news is that most modern teenagers have never seen the classics, so to them, it’s all brand new!

Fear Street: Prom Queen will be streaming on the 23rd of May. I’ll be watching!
