Stallone. Cinema icon. Beloved star. Fundamental building block of many Outposter’s movie obsession. However Seth Rogan has an opinion.
The actor, comedian and producer appeared on the Funny You Ask podcast alongside his The Studio co-star Ike Barinholtz.
In it, he made a bold claim about Stallone’s body of work saying that he has only made four good films. He said Demolition Man is one, and that Tango and Cash is enjoyable, but said it’s not a good movie.
Controversially, he also said:
“I don’t give a shit about any Rocky movies.”
The podcast then went on to talk about the comparisons with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Rogen said Arnie was ahead by some distance, and Barinholtz followed up:
“Stallone is maybe not as good as Schwarzenegger. Not even close. Predator alone is better than anything Stallone has made.”
Rogan added to this:
“Stallone has no Terminator 2, no True Lies. Schwarzenegger is in legitimately great movies.”
Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky Balboa, First Blood, John Rambo, Cliffhanger, Demolition Man, Creed, Nighthawks, Cop Land and Victory make my list.
Death Race 2000, Tango & Cash, Rocky III, Rocky IV (Directors Cut), and Daylight are also highly enjoyable.
So I am not sure I agree with Rogan entirely here. What do Outposter’s think?
