We mentioned The Electric State a while back when a teaser came out. Well, there’s now a full trailer from Netflix, and here it is:
It does look interesting, not perfect, but interesting. Yes, it’s got Millie Bobby-Brown and Chris Pratt in it, how bad can it be? The Russo Brothers are directing. That’s good, isn’t it?
The Electric State co-stars Devyn Dalton, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Terry Notary, Martin Klebba, Patti Harrison, and Randy Havens.
According to the IMDb, uncredited in the movie are Jenny Slate, Alan Tudyk, Giancarlo Esposito, Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Billy Bob Thornton, Anothy Mackie, Jason Alexander, and Greg Cromer. They are all mostly voice actors for some of the robots.
It also stars Ann Russo, who is sleeping with the director. OK, they are married, but it still seems like nepotism.
The story is set in the aftermath of a robot uprising in an alternate 1990s. An orphan (Brown) is trying to reach her brother by going through the wastelands of a ravaged America. Isn’t that the same story as Fallout 3 and 4?
The entire thing seems to build to a huge battle at the end, which could be fun. Big robots smashing each other, helicopters exploding, Chris Pratt with a worse haircut than you. It might just be a feel-good movie.
The Electric State will be on Netflix from 14th March.
