M-Bison-Streetfighter

STREET FIGHTER Casts Bison

For his agent, it literally was a Tuesday. A new name has taken on the mantle of M. Bison for the Street Fighter adaption.

Last month, we reported that they were talking to Walton Goggins about the role. That seems to have fallen through as now a different actor has been locked in.

Dune and Late Night with the Devil actor David Dastmalchian will play the role.

According to a report in Deadline this will be the actors biggest role to date.

Street-Fighter

The character was originally called Vega in the Japanese version of the game. The US version of the game gave that name to the Spanish bullfighter character, and changed the final boss to be called Balrog.

However. elsewhere in the game, there was an African American boxer called Mike Bison, a thinly veiled play on Mike Tyson. Fearing some legal issues, Capcom switched the names around. The boxer became Balrog, and the final boss, inexplicably, became M. Bison.

In the lore of the game, Bison is the head of the Shadaloo criminal organisation and has plans for world domination.

The character was famously played by Raul Julia in the 1994 version.

The cast for this thing is so crazy it just might work.

Jason Momoa is the green-skinned Blanka, with Callina Liang as Interpol officer Chun-Li, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Andrew Koji as martial artist Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ryu’s friend Ken, country singer Orville Peck as clawed bullfighter Vega, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson as boxer Balrog, and Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki.

Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show) is directing.

Street Fighter opens next year.
