Pedro Pascal is no stranger to, shall we say, hasty social media reactions. He once infamously shared a photo he claimed was related to children being caged at the US border that turned out to be Palestinian children playing in a restaurant. This hasn’t stopped him.
Famously supportive of transgender issues through a family connection, he has been triggered by events in the UK. A recent Supreme Court ruling from across the pond legally defined “woman” and “sex” as referring exclusively to individuals born biologically female. This signalled the beginning of the end of the invasion of female spaces and women’s sports.
Long-term advocate of women’s rights to these spaces, Harry Potter author JK Rowling, celebrated the ruling online. Pascal’s response was to condemned Rowling’s stance as “awful disgusting SHIT” and “heinous LOSER behavior” in a post on Instagram.
He did this on a post by activist Tariq Ra’ouf in which the activist called for a boycott of all Harry Potter-related projects, including the upcoming new television series adaptation. As a result, many are seeing Pascal’s engagement and endorsement of this boycott.
Pascal, who starred in The Last of Us from the same studio, also turned up at the UK premiere of Thunderbolts wearing a Conner Ives-designed t-shirt reading “Protect the Dolls,” a term of support for transgenderism. This short was apparently designed by Ives in response to political attacks on transgender rights in the United States.
