Neuromancer is where it all began. By “it”, we mean cyberpunk, steampunk’s slightly less annoying and better socially adjusted brother. The story of Case, a computer hacker enlisted into a crew by a powerful artificial intelligence and a traumatised former soldier to complete a high-stakes heist, is foundational to the genre.
No Neuromancer, likely no Johnny Mnemonic, and no The Matrix. No The Matrix, and no guys like this at the Con:

And nobody wants to live in a world without this guy, do they?
William Gibson’s ground-breaking sci-fi novel has been the touchstone, so the people with a leather trenchcoat still tucked away in their wardrobe got terribly excited when Apple TV announced they were to adapt Neuromancer as a series. This excitement grew when, towards the end of shooting, Apple TV posted a brief clip on the 41st anniversary of the book’s publication.
Now, on the 42nd anniversary of the book, they have dropped another brief, and highly cryptic, teaser.
This version of the story, like the book, will follow a damaged super-hacker named Case (Callum Turner), who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime with his partner Molly, an assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.
What appears to be a brief glimpse of Chatsubo is included in the tease. That is an expat bar in Japan frequented by Case.
Joseph Lee, Mark Strong, Cleménce Poésy, Peter Sarsgaard, Emma Laird, Dane DeHaan, André De Shields, Max Irons, and Marc Menchaca co-star. Graham Roland (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) serves as showrunner. Gibson, Zack Hayden, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Matt Thunell, Drake, Adel ‘Future’ Nur, and Jason Shrier also executive produce for Skydance Television and Anonymous Content.
Apple TV are yet to confirm an air date for Neuromancer.
